External Walls / Cladding & Façade Fire Risk Appraisal

Our team specialises in assessing the fire risk associated with external wall systems for residential buildings. With extensive experience in various building complexities, including high-rise structures, we ensure the highest standards of expertise.

We offer a full-service solution, from initial surveying to report production. This includes surveying, contractor opening-up, remediation, and the production of PAS9980 and EWS1 reports, ensuring compliance and peace of mind.

Our primary objective is to assess the risk of rapid fire spread posed by combustible cladding and wall systems, following PAS9980:2022 guidelines. Through a five-step risk assessment process, we identify factors influencing risk and recommend mitigation measures to improve safety.

We have a detailed understanding of the assessment of residential buildings ranging from low-rise relatively simplistic blocks to ultra high-rise fire engineered buildings with complex geometry and higher risk construction methods, e.g. timber frame.

We are proud to be directly involved as ongoing Technical Authors and Chief Examiners of the UKAS Accredited level 6 qualification in the External Wall Systems Training Program.

The surveying process

We review the building's compliance with modern legislation, ensuring that external wall materials meet limited combustibility requirements. Our approach involves assessing deviations from design guidance and recommending remedial actions where necessary.

Our site surveying and inspection process involves exposing wall systems at key locations to determine construction, condition, and fire stopping. High-level access appliances are used for thorough reviews, ensuring accurate assessments.

Our detailed reports provide an overview of wall systems, engineering-based risk justifications, overall risk ratings, and actionable recommendations for achieving life safety within your premises. Additionally, we offer EWS1 Form issuance, often required by lenders for evidence of adequate external wall assessment.

We prioritize risk proportionality in our approach, considering the costs involved in the remediation process to ensure successful delivery and compliance.

With our expertise and commitment to safety, we provide comprehensive external wall and façade fire risk assessments, enabling you to mitigate risks effectively and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Let us safeguard your building and its occupants with our tailored solutions.
